30 WhatsApp Status Ideas for Business (Shops & Services)

By BeeCMO teamPublished · 8 min read

The best WhatsApp Status ideas for business come from a simple weekly rhythm: an offer on Monday, a product or service on Tuesday, a tip mid-week, a review or finished job on Friday, and behind the scenes at the weekend, with festival posts added in the days before each festival. Below are 30 ideas for shops, salons, jewellers, cafes, coaching institutes and service businesses, and the Status rules WhatsApp documents.

Your WhatsApp Status is free advertising to people who already know you. They saved your number because they bought from you, asked a price or booked once. A good Status reminds them you exist without filling their chat inbox, which is why Status suits shops and local services in India so well.

How WhatsApp Status works for a business

These are the rules WhatsApp documents for Status, checked 28 October 2026:

  • 24 hours. Text, photo, video and voice updates disappear from view after 24 hours (WhatsApp).
  • Contacts only. WhatsApp's help centre ties Status visibility to saved contacts. A customer who hasn't saved your number won't see your updates.
  • Your choice of audience. You decide who sees each update. Status privacy lets you share with all contacts, all contacts except some, or only selected contacts (WhatsApp Help Center).
  • Content types. Photos, videos, voice notes and text, with stickers, GIFs and text overlays.

What this means in practice:

  1. Get saved. Print "Save our number for offers on WhatsApp Status" on your bill, counter card and shop board.
  2. Post daily, or close to it. An update from three days ago has already gone.
  3. Use 9:16. Status is full-screen vertical. Meta's ads guide for Instagram Stories, the same full-screen format, suggests leaving about 14% at the top and 35% at the bottom free of text. Ads in WhatsApp Status also use a 9:16 image or video.

Status is different from a broadcast. A broadcast lands in the customer's chat list and, on the WhatsApp Business Platform, has opt-in rules and a per-message cost. Status costs nothing to post and the customer chooses to look. Our festival WhatsApp campaign checklist covers broadcasts.

A weekly WhatsApp Status rhythm

Five themes on a repeat stop you staring at a blank screen. Post one or two updates a day; more than that and people tap past.

DayThemeExample
MondayOffer of the week"This week only: hair spa ₹799, till Sunday"
TuesdayProduct or serviceNew arrival, today's special, a service you want to sell more of
WednesdayTip or how-to"3 ways to keep silver jewellery from going black"
ThursdayProofA review card, a finished job, a happy customer (with consent)
FridayReminder"Last 2 days of the offer", weekend timings
WeekendBehind the scenesThe team, the kitchen, new stock arriving

Before a festival, swap two of these for a festival offer (3 to 7 days ahead) and a greeting (the evening before or the morning of). Dates and lead times are in our festival marketing calendar.

30 WhatsApp Status ideas for business

Illustrative examples. Use your own prices, photos and offers, and never invent reviews or results.

Offers (ideas 1 to 7)

  1. Offer of the week. One product or service, one price, one end date.
  2. Combo. "Haircut + beard trim ₹349" for a salon, "Thali + lassi ₹199" for a cafe.
  3. Last-day reminder. The same offer on its final day, with "Ends tonight".
  4. Slow-day offer. A weekday-only price to fill quiet hours.
  5. Price card. Your top five services or products with prices, so people don't need to ask.
  6. Pre-order window. "Diwali sweet boxes: order by 5 November", with box sizes and prices.
  7. New-customer offer. A first-visit price for people who came through a friend.

Products and services (ideas 8 to 13)

  1. New arrival. A boutique's new kurtis on the rack, a jeweller's new earring set, with a price.
  2. Today's special. A cafe's dish of the day, photographed on the counter.
  3. One service explained. What a keratin treatment involves, how long it takes, what it costs.
  4. Back in stock. A product people asked for.
  5. Size or colour options. One photo per colour, posted as a set of Status updates.
  6. Batch start date. For coaching: "New JEE batch starts 4 January. 6 seats left", if that's true.

Tips and how-to (ideas 14 to 18)

  1. Care tip. How to store a silk saree, how to clean gold at home.
  2. Before-you-buy tip. What to check when buying a gold chain, how to choose a cake size.
  3. Season tip. Winter hair care, exam-week study routine.
  4. Myth vs fact. A common customer question, answered in one line.
  5. Quick checklist. "Bridal makeup trial: what to bring".

Proof and reviews (ideas 19 to 23)

  1. Google review card. A real review, word for word, with the reviewer's first name. Ask first if you show more. Our Google review reply templates help you reply to the reviews you share.
  2. Finished work. A finished bridal look, a cake delivered, a room decorated. Get the customer's permission before you post their face or home.
  3. Customer photo. A customer wearing what they bought, with consent.
  4. Numbers you can back up. "Open since 1998" or "Our 25th Diwali", only if true.
  5. Results, carefully. For coaching, a topper's result only with written consent and the course they took. Clinics should stick to tips and timings, without patient stories or before-and-after pictures.

Behind the scenes (ideas 24 to 27)

  1. Team intro. "Meet Priya, our senior stylist", with her permission.
  2. Making of. Sweets being made in the morning, a necklace being polished.
  3. New stock arriving. Boxes being opened in the shop.
  4. Shop on a busy day. A short video of a full counter on a Saturday.

Festivals and seasons (ideas 28 to 30)

  1. Festival offer. 3 to 7 days before the festival, with your offer and last date.
  2. Festival greeting. On the evening before or the morning of the festival, with your logo and number. A Status lasts 24 hours, so an evening post covers the day.
  3. Festival timings. Open and closed days around Diwali, Christmas or Sankranti.

How to make a Status people stop on

  • One message per update. One offer, one product or one tip.
  • Your number on every image. Forwarded Status images travel without your profile.
  • Big text, few words. Most people look for about a second.
  • Your own photos. A real photo of your shop or work beats a stock image.
  • Your customers' language. Hindi, Gujarati or English, or a mix. Check the spelling.
  • A clear next step. "Reply PRICE", "Call to book", "Visit before Sunday".
  • Keep videos short. WhatsApp has changed its Status video length over time, so short clips are the safe choice.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Ten updates in a row. People tap past all of them.
  • Greetings only, with no offer or reason to reply.
  • Text in the bottom third, where the reply bar covers it.
  • Customer faces, homes or reviews posted without permission.
  • Prices that change after you post them.

Getting the designs made every week

Posting daily is easier when the designs are ready. Creative Bee makes your weekly and festival designs from your brand kit, with your own photos and offers, in English, Hindi or Gujarati. Each design comes in 9:16 for Status, plus 1:1 and 4:5 for Instagram and Facebook. You get 20 designs a month, and festival packs arrive 3 days before the festival.

You approve the set on WhatsApp, the files arrive on WhatsApp, and you forward them to your Status. WhatsApp doesn't let any app post to Status, so that last step stays with you. See Creative Bee for weekly Status designs.

If you also want to pay to reach people who haven't saved your number, read our guide to WhatsApp Status ads.

What should a business post on WhatsApp Status?

Rotate offers, products or services, tips, proof such as reviews and finished work, and behind-the-scenes posts. Before festivals, add an offer 3 to 7 days ahead and a greeting on the day.

How long does a WhatsApp Status last?

24 hours. After that it disappears from view, so a business needs to post regularly to stay visible.

Who can see my business WhatsApp Status?

Your contacts, depending on your Status privacy setting. A customer who hasn't saved your number won't see your updates, so ask customers to save it.

What size should a WhatsApp Status image be?

Vertical 9:16, for example 1080 × 1920 pixels. Keep text and your number away from the top and bottom edges.

How many WhatsApp Status updates should a business post a day?

One or two a day is a good rhythm for most shops and service businesses. Too many in a row and people tap past them.
