Diwali posts for your business: dates, ideas and sizes for 2026
Post your offer early and your greeting on the day.
Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026. Customers plan their Diwali shopping days ahead, so offer posts work best in the week before, and greetings on the day itself. This page covers the dates, what to post for your kind of business, the sizes WhatsApp Status and Instagram need, and greetings you can use.
Diwali 2026 dates and when to post
| Day | Date | Post your offer by | Post your greeting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dhanteras | Friday 6 November | Tuesday 3 November | Friday morning |
| Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) | Sunday 8 November | Thursday 5 November | Saturday evening or Sunday morning |
| Gujarati New Year | Tuesday 10 November | Saturday 7 November | Tuesday morning |
| Bhai Dooj | Wednesday 11 November | Sunday 8 November | Wednesday morning |
These are lunar dates. Panchangs sometimes differ by a day between regions, so check your local panchang before you fix an offer's end date.
A WhatsApp Status stays up for 24 hours. A greeting posted on Saturday evening is still showing on Sunday, when most people open WhatsApp to send their own wishes.
What to post, by business
- Jewellers. Dhanteras is the big buying day for gold, silver and coins. Post making-charge offers or new designs by the Tuesday before, then a Dhanteras greeting on the morning itself.
- Clothing and saree shops. Festive collections sell in the two weeks before Diwali. Post new arrivals with prices, then a "last days" post on the Thursday before.
- Salons and parlours. Bookings fill early. Post your Diwali packages with prices a week ahead and the slots left a few days before. Skip any skin "fairness" claims; the advertising code (ASCI) doesn't allow them.
- Sweet shops and restaurants. Post gift boxes and their prices with your order-by date, and your opening hours on Diwali and the day after.
- Real estate. Many families book on auspicious days. Show the project's RERA registration number on every project post, and don't promise returns.
- Clinics and dentists. Keep it to a sober greeting and your Diwali timings. Medical advertising rules don't allow offers built on patient stories or before-and-after pictures.
Sizes for WhatsApp Status and Instagram
| Where | Size | Keep clear |
|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp Status, Instagram Stories and Reels | 9:16, 1080 × 1920 px | The top 14% and bottom 20%, where names and buttons sit |
| Instagram and Facebook feed | 4:5, 1080 × 1350 px | The edges, since the profile grid shows a 3:4 crop |
| Square post | 1:1, 1080 × 1080 px | Small text near the edges |
Put your phone or WhatsApp number in the middle area of a Status image, large enough to read on a small phone.
Greetings you can use
- Happy Diwali from all of us at [your shop name].
- May your home be full of light, colour and joy. Happy Diwali.
(Gujarati New Year)
Have someone who reads the language check a greeting once before you post it, especially if a shop name in Hindi or Gujarati is part of it.
Rules worth knowing
- Use festival symbols. Diyas, rangoli, lanterns and torans read as Diwali without the risk that comes with images of gods next to a price.
- Make the offer real. A crossed-out "was" price should be a price you really charged, and the offer should hold until the date you print.
- Check local rules before showing firecrackers. Several states and cities restrict them around Diwali, so many businesses leave them out.
- Use the WhatsApp icon carefully. A small icon beside your number is fine. Don't change its colours or make it the biggest thing on the post.

Questions about Diwali posts
When should I post my Diwali offer?
In the week before Diwali. For 2026, aim to post offers by Thursday 5 November, and Dhanteras offers by Tuesday 3 November.
When should I post my Diwali greeting on WhatsApp Status?
On Saturday evening, 7 November, or Sunday morning, 8 November. A Status stays up for 24 hours, so an evening post covers the whole day.
What size is a WhatsApp Status image?
9:16, which is 1080 × 1920 pixels. Keep your text and number out of the top and bottom of the image, where WhatsApp shows names and buttons.
Can I use images of Lakshmi or Ganesh in a Diwali offer?
Many businesses avoid it, because a god's image next to a price or discount can offend customers. Diyas, rangoli and lanterns are safer. Creative Bee uses festival symbols only and never has AI draw deities.
Can Creative Bee post to my Status for me?
No app can post to WhatsApp Status. Creative Bee sends you the finished files on WhatsApp, and you forward them to your Status.
