Wedding season marketing in India works best when you start before the families do: show bridal collections, packages and prices 6 to 8 weeks before the main wedding dates, collect enquiries on WhatsApp, and follow up within a day. For the 2026-27 season, published muhurat lists cluster dates in late November and early December 2026, then again from mid-January to February 2027. Below are ideas for each type of business, a timeline, and what to post each week.
For a lot of Indian businesses, wedding season brings the biggest orders of the year. A single family can need gold and diamond sets, a bridal lehenga and outfits for every function, bridal and family makeup, a caterer for 500 guests and a decorator for three events. Most families choose within a few weeks of fixing the date, and they compare several vendors while they do.
For the festival dates that sit inside the same months (Diwali, Christmas, Sankranti, Republic Day, Vasant Panchami), see our festival marketing calendar for India.
When wedding season 2026-27 falls
Wedding dates follow the Hindu panchang, and each community and family pandit may choose differently. WeddingSutra's indicative lists, checked today, show:
| Month | Dates on the indicative list |
|---|---|
| November 2026 | 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 30 |
| December 2026 | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12 |
| January 2027 | 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 24, 27, 30, 31 |
| February 2027 | 3, 5, 17, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28 |
Other published lists differ by a few dates, and WeddingSutra itself says some dates auspicious in a few communities may be missing. Use this as a planning guide only. The simplest way to know your season is to ask every enquiry: "What is the wedding date?" Then plan your follow-ups backwards from it.
What the gap means for marketing:
- Mid-November to mid-December is the first rush. Jewellery and outfit buying, salon trials and caterer tastings for these weddings happen in October and early November, which overlaps with Diwali.
- Mid-December to mid-January has few or no dates on these lists. Use it to market for the January and February weddings.
- Mid-January to February is the second rush, also overlapping with Sankranti and Vasant Panchami.
Muslim, Christian and Sikh weddings follow their own calendars and family choices, so don't assume your customers only marry on these dates.
A wedding season marketing timeline
Work backwards from the wedding date your customers give you.
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| 8 weeks before | Post your bridal collection, packages and "starting from" prices. Open a booking or trial calendar |
| 6 weeks before | Post finished work from last season (with consent), and a booking reminder |
| 4 weeks before | Follow up every enquiry that went quiet. Post slots or dates left, if true |
| 2 weeks before | Post family and guest offers: makeup for the bride's family, outfits for sangeet, gift sets |
| Wedding week | Confirm bookings, timings and deliveries |
| After the wedding | Thank-you message, ask for a Google review, ask for photos you can share |
Wedding season marketing ideas by business
Illustrative examples, not customer results.
Jewellers
- Bridal set reveal. One set per post, photographed in your shop light, with weight range and a making-charge offer if you have one.
- Budget ladder. Three sets at three price bands, so families see something for them.
- Gold rate post. Today's rate, posted in the morning, if you update it every day. Wrong or stale rates do more harm than none.
- Old gold exchange. If you offer it, explain how it works and what you check.
- Appointment slots. "Private bridal viewing, book a slot", for families who don't want to choose at a crowded counter.
- Gifts for guests. Silver coins, small gold gifts, return gifts with prices.
Keep purity and price claims accurate, and say what is included in a price.
Boutiques and ethnic wear
- One look per function. Haldi, mehendi, sangeet, wedding, reception, each with a price.
- Bride's family edit. Outfits for mothers, sisters and cousins, in a price band.
- Fitting timeline. "Order 4 weeks before the wedding for alterations." Use your real timeline.
- Real customer, real outfit. A bride in your lehenga, with her written permission.
- Fabric and work close-ups. Zari, embroidery, hand work, shot up close on your phone.
- Rental or ready-to-wear, if you offer it, with what's included.
Salons and makeup artists
- Bridal package card. Trial, bridal makeup, draping, hair, nails, with a starting price.
- Pre-bridal plan. Sessions spread over the weeks before the wedding, with timings.
- Family package. Makeup for the mother, sisters and friends on the wedding day.
- Trial booking post. "Book your trial 4 to 6 weeks before."
- Finished looks. Real brides, with consent. Show what you did; don't promise skin colour changes.
- Artist intro. Your senior artist, with her permission, and what she's best at.
Caterers
- Menu by function. Mehendi snacks, wedding thali, reception buffet, each with a per-plate starting price.
- Tasting invite. "Tasting sessions for weddings booked this month."
- Live counter ideas. Chaat, dosa, jalebi, with photos from real events.
- Regional menus. Gujarati, Marwari, Punjabi or South Indian, if you cook them well.
- Hygiene and kitchen. Your kitchen, team in caps and gloves, a clean prep area.
- Guest-count guide. How much food you plan per guest. Use your real numbers.
Decorators and event setups
- Theme post. One theme per post: marigold mandap, pastel sangeet, white reception.
- Budget packages. Basic, standard and premium setups with what's included.
- Before and after. Venue empty, then decorated. Get the venue's permission.
- Small-venue ideas. Home haldi, terrace mehendi, society-hall sangeet.
- Setup time-lapse. A short phone video of the team setting up.
- Dates left. Only if true, and only for dates you can really take.
What to post each week during the season
A simple repeat keeps your WhatsApp Status and Instagram full without much thought:
- Monday: package or price post. One package, a starting price, how to book.
- Wednesday: real work. A finished bridal look, set, outfit, menu or mandap, with consent.
- Friday: proof. A Google review card or a thank-you message, word for word, with permission.
- Weekend: behind the scenes. Fittings, tastings, setup, the team at work.
- Festival weeks: add a festival offer 3 to 7 days ahead and a greeting on the day.
Our guide on how often to post on Instagram covers posting frequency, and these WhatsApp Status ideas for your shop give you more themes to rotate.
Turn enquiries into bookings
Wedding enquiries often start with a short WhatsApp message: "Price?", "Is 25 November free?", "Send bridal package". How you reply often decides who gets the booking.
- Reply the same day. Families ask several vendors at once.
- Ask three things. The wedding date, the city or venue, and the budget range.
- Send one clear package, not your whole catalogue.
- Follow up after 2 to 3 days if they go quiet, with one new reason: a photo, a slot, a tasting date.
- Get consent before broadcasts. Only send promotional WhatsApp messages to people who agreed to get them. Our festival WhatsApp campaign checklist covers opt-in, templates and costs.
After the wedding
- Thank the family on the day after.
- Ask for a Google review a few days later, from every customer, not only the happy ones.
- Ask for photos you can share, and get permission in writing (a WhatsApp "yes" is a good record).
- Plan the next sale: anniversaries, the next family wedding, festival gifts.
Wedding season mistakes to avoid
- Starting to post in the week of the wedding dates, when families have already chosen.
- Stock or AI photos presented as your work.
- Posting a bride's photos without her permission.
- "Lowest price in the city" or "No.1" claims you can't prove.
- A long catalogue with no prices, so every enquiry starts with "Price?"
Getting wedding season posts made
Creative Bee makes weekly and festival designs for your business with your own photos and offers: bridal sets, packages, menus or decor, plus festival greetings and offers in the same months. Designs come in English, Hindi or Gujarati, in 9:16 for WhatsApp Status and 1:1 and 4:5 for Instagram and Facebook. You send photos on WhatsApp, approve each set there, and forward the files to your Status yourself, since WhatsApp doesn't let any app post to Status.

When is wedding season in India in 2026-27?
Indicative muhurat lists show wedding dates from about 19 November to 12 December 2026, then from about 14 January 2027 through February and into March. Exact dates vary by community and panchang.
When should a business start wedding season marketing?
About 6 to 8 weeks before the main wedding dates, because families book jewellers, outfits, salons, caterers and decorators well ahead. For late-November weddings, that means October.
What should a jeweller post during wedding season?
Bridal sets with weight ranges and offers, sets at three price bands, guest gifts, appointment slots and real customer photos with permission. Keep gold rates and purity claims accurate.
How can a salon get more bridal bookings?
Post a clear bridal package with a starting price, invite trials 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding, add a family package, and show real bridal looks with consent. Reply to every enquiry the same day.
Are there wedding dates between mid-December and mid-January?
WeddingSutra's indicative lists show none between 13 December 2026 and 13 January 2027. Use that gap to market for January and February weddings.
